Foodbank

Volunteering

At present South Liverpool Foodbank relies entirely on Volunteers.

As we are just starting up now is an exciting time to get involved. There are lots of Volunteer opportunities for you to choose from. If you are available, even just for a short period of time, please do get in touch with us at:

Volunteer areas include:

• Checking, sorting and making up food packages for individuals or families

• Helping out at Organised Supermarket Collection Events or Bag Packing Fundraising Events (just for an hour, as part of a team)

• From 5 October 2009 the Foodbank will be opening 2 mornings per week to give out Food Bags to Voucher Recipients. You might be able to help by making hot drinks or be a listening ear. If you would like to help in this area you will receive full training and support.

• We will need people to raise awareness of the project in the local area. Maybe you could be part of this team.

• We also hope to organise Harvest Collections at Schools and Churches across the area. If you are interested in getting involved please contact us.

• In the not too distant future we are planning to set up additional Foodbank collection points where people will be able to drop off donated food. If you are interested in helping us we would be delighted to hear from you.

• If you have a car or a van, you could volunteer to transport donated food from collection points to our central store.

• Once we are fully operational we will need people with administrative skills, fundraisers to apply for grants and assist with fund raising events, warehouse and distribution support, people to establish connections with front-line care professionals and forge links with local schools, churches, businesses and other groups.

• Let us know how you can help.
