Gen 12:1-5, Heb 11:8-10.
1. THE CALL - Divine, personal, specific & blessed.
2. THE COST - Obedience.
3. THE CASE - In the world but not of the world.
4. THE CAUSE - He looked for the eternal city.
Gen 6:1-18, Heb 11:7.
1. FAITH – ITS BASIS The Word of God.
2. FAITH – ITS BATTLE With the world, the flesh and the Devil.
3. FAITH – ITS BLESSING The saving of his house. The righteousness of God.
(Gen 5:22-24, Heb 11:5, Jude 14-15)
1. HIS WORLD - Prosperous, depraved, apostate.
2. HIS WALK - He walked with God.
3. HIS WITNESS - He pleased God – in life and lip.
4. HIS WELCOME - God took him home!
WHO IS IN CONTROL? 1) WHAT DID JOHN SEE? - A scroll (5:1). A strong angel (5:2). Nothing happening (5:3-4). The Lion of the tribe of Judah (5:5). A Lamb (5:6-7). 2. WHAT DID JOHN HEAR? - Choir of 28 (5:8-10). Choir of thousands (5:11-12). Choir of all creation (5:13). 3. WHAT DO WE NEED TO SEE? - Encouragement for 1st century Christians. Encouragement for us. Worship – the heartbeat of the Christian. 4. WHAT DO WE NEED TO HEAR? - This place filled with worship.
1. CONDUCT - Abel was righteous before God in the obedient way he lived. Cain was not righteous & disobedient.
2. CONSEQUENCES - Abel and his sacrifice were accepted before God. Cain and his sacrifice were not. God warned Cain to live righteously and overcome sin but Cain became angry and murdered his brother. God then drove Cain away from the land where his family lived.
3. CHRIST - The sacrifice of this Saviour would atone for sin and open the way to heaven.
Three words used for ‘hell’ :
a) Gehenna (Greek) – The rubbish dump which was permanently burning and smelling.
b) Sheol (Hebrew) - Hollow or concealed place.
c) Hades (Greek) - Hole or hollow.
The hell in the Apostles Creed which Jesus descended to was either b or c but not a. Separation of body & spirit at death – body remains in grave, spirit goes to heaven which is why Jesus could say to the dying thief “Today you will be with Me in Paradise”.
Heb 12:18-24 & Rev 21:1-4
A Place Of :
1. SOVEREIGNTY - God’s new world!
2. SOCIETY - God with His people!
3. SERENITY - No more pain!
4. SECURITY - Forever with the Lord!

The Holy Spirit:
1. HIS PERSON - Not a force – A Person.
2. HIS POWER - To convict, to transform, to console, to enhance.
3. HIS PRESENCE - Gives The Church its: life, gifts, fruit, balance, freedom, power.
1. QUESTIONING (18:28-40) - What accusation do you bring against this man? Are You the King of the Jews?
2. SCOURGING & MOCKING (19:1-6)
They beat Him with a whip; made Him wear a crown of thorns, a purple robe, and gave Him a sceptre to hold; punched, struck and spat at Him; bowed the knee and mocked Him.
3. DELIBERATING (19:7-12) - Don't You know I have power to crucify You,
and power to release You?
4. SENTENCING (19:13-16) - Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified.
